A Krewe is an organization, usually in New Orleans LA and Mobile AL, that organizes a parade for Mardi Gras or Carnaval. This boozy vanilla latte pays homage to the oft- paraded streets of the French Quarter by offering spiced rum, orgeat, and New Orleans Style Chicory Cold Brew with Cream from Longmont Dairy Co. And as a bonus, the orgeat is allergen free!

KREWE BREW

1.5 oz Abbott & Wallace Lusca Spiced Rum

0.5 oz Oat Milk Orgeat (recipe below)

4 oz Longmont Dairy Company Chicory and Cream

(Or substitute 3 oz Cold Brew and 1 oz Oat Milk to make it vegan)

Combine all in a shaker and shake hard with ice. Strain into a coffee mug or latte glass on a few ice cubes. Sprinkle some cinnamon and/or nutmeg on top!

Cheers!

Oat Milk Orgeat

Orgeat is a syrup made in French Caribbean style that typically combines almond water or almond milk with sugar and rose water or orange flower water. The syrup is essential to a lot of Tiki drinks, but has the problem of many people being allergic to it. This version is slightly creamier, but much safer for you and your holiday guests.

2 Cups Oat Milk

2 Cups Sugar

8 drops Rose Water

Heat the oat milk in a pot until fairly warm. Add sugar and stir until dissolved. Let cool, add Rose Water, and bottle. If you need it to last longer than a week, and won’t give it to any kids, add 1 oz of Vodka to the bottle or jar.
